STATEMENT
My works explore everyday objects with the use of photogpaphy and collage elements, which are turned into scarp contoured, sculptural expressions.
The precise and clean cut composition of colour and shape suggests, in a poetic, consistent language, that the fragmentation of contemporary, nomadic, globalised life does not drain it of meaning. The works show the process of navigating through the rapid flow of visual impressions that the contemporary consumer is constantly confronted with.

ABOUT
SERGEI SVIATCHENKO is a Ukrainian born, Danish citizen, architect and artist. Born in Kharkov, Ukraine. Graduated from Kharkov Academy of Art and Architecture, followed by a PhD at the Kiev School of Architecture /Means of Visual Information in Architecture/
In1990 he moved to Denmark.
He has had numerous solo and group exhibitions across Europe, Canada and the USA. In 2002-2009 he founded Senko Studio, it's the place where Sviatchenko, as curator, presents various pieces of art produced by emerging and promising artists and photographers - www.senko.dk
He has been commissioned on numerous occasions to create art for architectural and environmental use for PricewaterhouseCoopers, Jyske Bank, Nokia, Grundfos, Sonofon, The Danish Business Academy, Danish Parliament.
Sergei Sviatchenko was chosen as one of five emerging new art image-makers from around the world, to feature in the launch of the new Varoom magazine, London.
Contributes to Varoom/London/, NeonViewpoint./Germany/, This is a magazine/Italy/, Playzebra/Italy/, Kilimanjaro/London/, Dazed & Confused/London/, Rojo /Spain/, LE /Russia/,Colophound /Luxembourg, Blueprint/London/, Warlus/Toronto/, Viewpoint/London/, Arena/London/ 100% /China/, Elephant/London
In April 2009 he founded CLOSE UP AND PRIVATE, an on-going art project dedicated to the visual language of style, celebrating classic details and contemporary looks through unique photographic documentary.

Adrian Shaughnessy:
Sviatchenko, brings an iconic simplicity and aggressive directness to his work, and he does this by never striving for realism. His work has the deranged feeling of dreams. It is work that is psychologically unsettling. It is work that has bite, but it is also superbly stylish. Just don’t call it illustration. The only thing it is illustrating is Sviatchenko’s vision of the world."
Adrian Shaughnessy, curator, designer and writer, London

Faye Dowling:
Sergei Sviatchenko stands out as an artist with a unique vision; encompassing our ever-shifting creative vocabulary whilst maintaining a precise, individual voice which underpins his work to stand both conceptually and creatively above the tide of visual messaging in todays visual culture, revealing the unique creative vision of this truly contemporary artist.
Faye Dowling, art buyer and curator, London

Richard Brereton:
Every now and then we recognize someone who has an authentic voice. Danish collage artist Sergei Sviatchenko is such a person and one of the leading figures in contemporary collage. Rightfully he recognizes the importance of connecting the visual arts to all aspects of contemporary culture.
Richard Brereton, author of CUT & PASTE, 21st Century Collage, Laurence King Publishing, London
